Drift Ring
An organic, one-of-a-kind sterling silver ring created using the unpredictable process of water casting.
Molten sterling silver was poured into water, where it cooled instantly into this completely unique form. I selected the resulting piece for its rippled, irregular surface and fabricated it into a simple sterling silver open ring.
The band remains open beneath the water-cast form, giving the ring a light, uncomplicated structure while keeping the naturally formed silver as the focus.
Water casting means I can influence the process, but never completely control the result. Each piece is shaped by molten metal, water and chance — and can never be reproduced exactly.
